I would ask you to take note of the following events which have been placed on the calendar of St. Albans Episcopal Church for the beginning of the Year of Our Lord, 2015.
On Sunday January 4th, the Church will be holding its’ Annual Meeting. A meal will follow our time of worship; and, we will address the business agenda immediately thereafter. We will also elect two new members to the Vestry, provide reports of our activities from the year past; and, discuss plans for our future.
On Sunday January 11th, St. Albans will celebrate the Holy Baptism and the Holy Eucharist Rite II, as Asher and Susan Ray are made one body and one spirit with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As with all baptisms, please join with us on this most special day!
The celebration of the Holy Eucharist and the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ is scheduled for St. Albans Episcopal Church at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, December 24th. Come and worship with us as we offer praise glory to the new born King!
St. Alban’s Episcopal Church will conduct its’ annual business meeting immediately after our regularly scheduled worship service on Sunday, January 12th, 2014. First, we shall all partake in our traditional potluck luncheon. Then, we will undertake to elect new members to the Vestry, hear the annual reports from 2013; and, approve our financial budget for 2014. All members of the congregation are strongly encouraged to attend. Visitors of course, all are always welcome!
Let us together break the first bread of the day at the Lord’s Table as we celebrate The Holy Eucharist Rite II at St. Albans Episcopal Church. The service will begin at 10:00 am; and, all are welcome to attend.
From Thursday through Sunday of this week, we shall continue our worship of Holy Week through the Paschal Triduum; the services we have come to know as Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
On Maundy Thursday we will commemorate the Last Supper, and our continuing Christian understanding of servitude. Throughout the night and unto Good Friday, we will wait and watch with our Lord. (The Church will be open for prayer from 8:00am til 6:00pm). For it is on this Friday that we shall remember the great sacrifice that came as a result of the crucifixion of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The services for both Thursday and Friday will begin at 6:00pm.
The last and greatest of the three days will take place on the Sunday morning of Easter at 10:30am. This is the time in which we will celebrate the glorious resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ; and, seek to renew through Him our own Baptismal covenant. It is the time in which we may once again say Alleluia, without reservation!
An Ash Wednesday service and Holy Eucharist will be held at St. Albans on February 13th at 6:00 pm. Please join us as we are reminded by the lessons of the day, lessons which inform us that our first step toward serving God is repentance. As we receive the imposition of ashes, a look in the mirror will prompt us to remember our past, and move beyond those things which separate us from God; ultimatley directing us toward those actions that shall unite us with the Holy Father, forever and ever.
Please join with us as we humbly begin the Season of Lent ……..
It is time once again to greatly feast, before we fully fast! Mark your calenders for Tuesday, February 12th as the date for the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. As always, we are in need of volunteers, so a sign-up sheet has been made available on the Church Bullentin Board.
All you can eat pancakes and sausage…… The tickets for adults are $7.00 and for children under the age of twelve, it is $3.00. For those of you who have yet to receive their allotment of tickets, please contact Robyn Stayton at your convenience. For the calorie conscious; please remember that blessed food is believed to be less fattening! At least let us pray that this is so ……..
